The Blog

Welcome! Kiss My Casserole is a food blog about much more than just casseroles. This is a place for me to share my experiments in the kitchen as I strive to live a healthy, balanced life and navigate my twenties!

When I first started learning how to cook, my mom supplied me with Barefoot Contessa Back to Basics: Fabulous Flavor From Simple Ingredients by Ina Garten. I absolutely adored Ina’s philosophy of focusing on the basics and her passion for transforming ordinary ingredients into magnificent dishes full of flavor. Ina’s approach became the basis of my style.

Most of my recipes call for ordinary, affordable ingredients you can find in a regular grocery store, do not require special tools or the assistance of any Food Network chefs, and take less than an hour to make. Although I enjoy the time I spend preparing meals, I am often on the go and appreciate when I can make food that tastes delicious without having to spend all day in an apron. Because I am often cooking for one, I have a penchant for meals that can be frozen so that I am not stuck eating the same thing for days. From healthy versions of savory weeknight meals to sweet treats, you will find a little bit of everything in my Recipe Box. Like what you see? Sign up for email updates, and never miss a recipe! Thank you for visiting!

My Food Philosophy

My approach to food revolves around enjoyment and balance.

First and foremost, I believe that food is to be enjoyed. In a society flooded with dieting propaganda on one extreme and obesity on the other, the thin ideal reigns supreme, and we are convinced that food is the enemy. Food is not only vital to human existence, but it is also a means to express creativity, a reason to bring people together, a focal point of holidays and celebrations, and something that should be relished (pun intended)!

The key to enjoying food and simultaneously pursuing a healthy lifestyle is balance. Ever heard the phrase “everything in moderation”? That’s how I approach my diet. I focus on eating mostly wholesome foods that provide a balance of everything I need to sustain a healthy body: good carbohydrates and whole grains, fiber, healthy fats, high-quality protein, vitamins, and minerals. On the other hand, I will never turn down a decadent dessert on a special occasion—because that’s what balance is all about.

  1. I’m excited to try the cookies and blueberry casserole!!!Thank you for including the correct measurements in case we want to use real sugar. I will be making these for my kids, so I will probably try them with the real deal on the initial bake. Thanks!!! ❤ jh
